Let's put the party back at the camp. You'll remember that Lothar did come back from Stavanger TODAY, the 30th of April, before your heading out to the dungeon. It is about 4 in the afternoon when you return to camp ~ and it is raining again. It is what you would just a moderate rain, more or less what you equate to a firm, steady and not unusual rain, much more than a drizzle or a trace.
We had established that 1 mm of rain per day would be enough to cause damage in the wilderness, from cold and general unpleasantness. Since the temperature right now is 4 C/39 F, or "brisk," this makes travelling overland in Norway a real horror show. As you're walking, you'll all take a point of damage on your way back to camp.
We also established that the rain will ensure that you won't get any rest so long as it rains to this degree, regardless of your tents. I've been in many a tent in positively vile conditions in the Canadian Rockies and I can tell you from experience, it isn't restful. Nor was that in a 17th century tent.
You might want to consider returning to Stavanger as a group. You don't know how long the rain will last; it could be clear tomorrow or not. You could get back to Stavanger tonight, with Lothar's help (4.5 hours travel), before the sun actually sets ~ but it will again be a thoroughly miserable trip through a wet forest, no doubt causing more damage (but not enough to kill anyone). You could remain where you are and hope for the best, but cooking in this weather won't be any more pleasant and even if it is better tomorrow, everything will still be soaking wet until mid-day. That will increase the chance of all of you catching a cold, if you're not in a very warm place before then.
And it could always get worse.
Fjall and Valda did not get any rest, nor hit points, today; but they haven't lost any yet, either.

I had failed to mention the wind. There is a moderate breeze, creating small waves on the lake and frequent white horses, plainly moving the small branches on the trees and fluttering the leaves.
Much as I surmised earlier, then. Homeward bound!
[Glad to hear about the interview!]
Oh boy. Engelhart's idea of everyone going back to town is looking better and better. Not that I'm worried about anyone from town coming out here and sneaking our site, but probably the less said about the precise location of the barrow the better. I'll need to borrow 7 coppers to afford a bedstead for the night when we get back, as I doubt anyone will be willing to buy our stones or book at 8:30 or 9:30 at night, depending on how long it takes us to pack up. It's only been a few days since we left Engelhart's family's place, would they be willing to host us again, or would that be asking too much? Probably all 9 of us would be too much.
I'm glad. I wanted to go for it, but wasn't sure if some of us were fit for travel at all.
I think the rain puts Bergthora at 1 hp, yes?
But let's go, spend a few days resting, and see what our plan is with our haul confirmed.
I wish one of us could appraise that frog statue on it's side. A part of me STILL wants to figure out how to get it out of that gully.
How is easy. It's affording the "How" that's the problem. We'll need a hefty winch, pulley, roller system, and lots of hefty rope and hands to haul on the ropes. Perhaps when we're rich we can come back and have the frog shipped to our castle courtyard as a testament to our first adventure (not even kidding).
Now now, I imagine success would make me very generous. OBVIOUSLY we give the statue to Engelhart's family, as a tribute to their aid in our early adventures.
Of course we could do that. I'm sure the family of the famous and wealthy Protestant cleric would love a giant statue of some ancient pagan deity sitting in the mud outside their three room fisherman's hut.
It would be too soon to visit again.
And no, I wouldn't recommend giving a pagan statue as a gift in Lutheran Norway.
There's the 15 silver I got back from "not buying" the chausses & hauberk combo. You're welcome to have them if it'll keep you boarded.
I still have over 100gp. We can afford housing and food and more besides. Let's head back to Stavanger.
Off we go then!
Agreed.
Bergthora did get hit again for another 2 damage, I think, so that did leave her at 2 upon leaving the dungeon. She is at 1 as she enters the camp by Store Stokka.
But remember! Zero hit points is not death for a combat trained humanoid. Death occurs at -4 hit points for someone combat trained (including common orcs, goblins, hobgoblins, troglodytes and so on) and at -10 hit points for a leveled individual. So Bergthora is safe. Sore, beaten up, but not dead.
Every member of the party will suffer another hit point of damage as you clamber into town, as the forest is wet and awful and bloody cold. It takes you longer than four hours, as it happens, as everyone is exhausted, hungry, worn down and prone to resting individually, slowing the whole party down. Lothar, the ranger, is the only one who seems to handle it, but of course he's tired too, having done this trip twice today and now having physically pushed himself a total of 12 hours. The rain stopped for about three hours, then spat for an hour just before the end of your journey.
It is a very tired party that reaches Stavanger around 9pm, where the sun sits right on the horizon, which happens to be clear as you reach your destination.
You'll need to eat six pounds of food each; pay for a room; stable the donkey; then we'll start a new post when everyone has covered those expenses.
I do get to make a solo trip round home, correct, Alexis?
I'll share the burden of stabling the donkey and anything else you feel like you need, of course.
Yes, Engelhart, you're welcome at home!
Lothar, I hesitate to modify the lovely sheet you made without explicit permission.
My plan was 2 pounds of the Herring, 2 lbs Potatoes, 1 lb of Oatmeal and another of Onions. With a pint from our keg.
If you could either leave instructions here, or in the sheet itself so that we can handle ourselves without needing to dump quartermaster duty on you alone, that would be nice.
If you WANT to be quartermaster, that's another story.
Either way, we've been out in the wilderness, I've still got some cash, and I deserve nice things.
I'm going to get a private room at a public house, get my clothes laundered, and order a bath.
Total comes in at 24 sp.
If the house allows it, someone is free to bunk up.
Once we figure out the value of our many treasures, I'll start spending in earnest.
That leaves Embla, Lothar and the stabling of the donkey. I'll set up a new post when we get these things sorted.
Do Petar and Willa have a place they can stay?
I'll pay for a private room and stabling for the donkey at the same public house as Pandred, which comes to 1 gp. If Petar and Willa need a place to stay, they can have the room and I'll bunk with Pandred.
I offer to cover Lothar's/Bergthora & co.'s room(s), as well.
We also need food - 1cp for the donkey's feed and I ask what the house has available - I'd rather not cook if I don't have to.
I gladly avail myself of Embla's generosity, and if it extends as far as a bath, laundry, and a shave (do elves need to shave?), I take advantage of that as well.
The food sheet was made up to track gross food consumption for a whole group of people without the need for individual deductions. I'll put up a post on my character blog as to its use and post a link here.
Food tracker instructions: http://lotharsvensson.blogspot.com/2017/03/instructions-for-party-food-tracker.html
They're your hirelings, so you are responsible for bunking them.
I've created a new post.
That's what I thought. That's 20sp for another two private rooms at the public house, and then 2gp 5sp 6cp for roast beef, ale, and rye bread for Embla, Willa, Petar, Bergthora, Valda, and the final hireling (since everybody else has eaten from the party's foodstuffs), for a total of 3gp 9sp 6cp. Purchased.
