Morning, 9am, Wednesday, May 11, 1650. Weather, cool, a moderate breeze is moving the small branches on the trees and stirring up a little dust from the camp. There a few small clouds, scudding their way across the sky. The moon is a day from becoming a half moon.
The party has been camped in Oddsdrakken's tent, which the party obtains by default. I need the party to remove a total of 48 lbs. from their food supply, for everything you've eaten since yesterday morning, when we last assessed.
What action do you wish to take now?

I ask for some time to study while the group plans. I need 45 minutes, I believe (2 1st level spells + 1 cantrip).
In the future, I will wake up earlier.
I study for 15 minutes to restore my shillelagh spell.
Then I propose we head out (or rather, in) to the dungeon.
Does anyone report strange sightings? A teleporting gunk-monter maybe?
Food has been deducted from the food tracker. Did the newcomers have any comestibles to contribute?
Did you add the food I gave you last week? If not, it was:
6x Herring, fresh
1x 8.1 lb. Bag of potatoes
1x 6.75 lb. Bag of onions
1x 6.75 lb. Bag of mushrooms
I had missed that, thank you.
And a pot (cooking), crockery
When I say that it is nine, and you're ready to do something, please assume that you've gotten up with the dawn (will be loud from the work camp), that you've made breakfast, eaten, prepared your spells, etcetera; not that you've woken at nine.
So you are fed and you've memorized. When you are higher level, with more time needed, it will get later for when you start.

Got it. In that case, let's head in. Ee should see if anything happened in the night, and if not, head back to where we left.
I'd like to add a little information for the party. Working on Engelhart's Beasts study, I've finished this page: http://tao-dndwiki.blogspot.ca/2018/05/beast-origins-sage-ability.html
Engelhart can state definitively that the "gunk-monster" you encountered was definitely not a beast.
That's good to know, albeit scarier. Let's enter.
yes, let's!
Agreed.
Rob Munro, Hp are more important for you and Mikael at the present level than for the rest of us: you've recovered 1 hp overnight, I now cast Cure Light Wounds for a full 8 hp, 7 for you and one for me.
God's Speed.
I'd like to walk you down to the place where you left off.
I would like to know some information.
I don't need to know what equipment you are bringing (I trust you), but I'd like you to designate that equipment for yourselves. I'd like to know the WEIGHT of the equipment. I'd like it separated into what's on your body and what's in your backpacks. Since you like removing your backpacks in a fight, I'd like to know this ahead of time.
I'd like you to calculate your CLO.
I'd like you to tell me who is carrying a lit lantern, and who is carrying a lit torch, as I want to know how much fuel/torches you're using, if it turns out you're down here a long time.
Be sure you know how much food is present and with you.
If you do not specify your weight, I am going to treat you as carrying your clothes and one weapon, and NOTHING else. If you do not specify your CLO, I'm going to treat you as naked.
I'd like to know what boots you're wearing. If you do not specify, I'm going to assume you're not wearing boots.
I have noticed that I am asking questions like this and not getting answers from some people.
(And let us spelunk before we burn through the daylight)
[Lothar, while the party is working out these things. Couple weeks ago, you coined the term, "zombrat." I have recently been in touch with a dollmaker, who feels she can turn out a product based on that idea. Are you good with my seizing that particular intellectual property from you?]
Engelhart, I have added two abilities to your Beasts sage ability. I'd add a third, but I cannot think of one just now. If you have any ideas ...
You are more than welcome to the full and free use of the term Zombrat for any and all purposes.
NO ONE HAS GAINED ANY HIT POINTS FROM REST.
"Rest" requires a full day of resting, without action. It is not gained from just sleeping. So do not count 1 hit point gained, Rob, as Engelhart wrongly explained.
Thank you Lothar.
Weight: No backpack - 17.49 lbs (4 AP)
Backpack - 32.85 lbs (4 AP)
CLO: 1.13 (low hard boots, breeches, loin cloth, shirt, robes)
Torch: No, I have infravision
Equipment: 1 dart in hand, 5 in belts, spellbook
Food: 5 wineskins.
Boots: low and hard
I have an additional 14 darts in my backpack
Sorry, Alexis, forgot it didn't apply to any period rest.
Rob: avail yourself of the full 8 hp from my casting, then.
I leave my backpack at the camp, putting a few things in my large pouch.
Overall, I am carrying 26.49lbs.
CLO : 1.60
I carry a bulleye lantern, lit (3 x 2.5hours worth of candle).
I've got no food (however I could carry 2lbs. should I do that? (the question is to my comrades, of course))
boots: boots (low hard), cowhide
Weight of equipment carried: 54.95 lbs, no backpack carried. All my stuff is in belt pouches or carried. I am at 3 AP.
My CLO is at 1.65.
I am not carrying a light.
The only "food" I have on my are two full waterskins - totaling 1 gallon of water. If someone wants to carry these for me I'd be able to easily drop my shield to get to 4 AP.
I am wearing low, hard cowhide boots.
Embla's equipment:
CLO 1.18
On-person w/out backpack: 38.5lbs (5AP)
Backpack alone: 39lbs (I drop to 4AP while carrying it)
I've a bullseye lantern and 2 pints of oil, but I'm happy to let someone else use it, since I has infravision.
I'm bringing with me 6.75lbs mushrooms, 7.5lbs salted cod, and 4 healing salves
I wear high hard leather boots.
Your infravision is non-functional if anyone else around you is carrying an ordinary light source, Mikael. Infrared is very low resolution and is drowned out by normal light. Same goes for you, Embla.
Fjall has a load of 71.31 total (AP 3), 46.14 lbs (AP 4) without backpack.
His CLO I think is at 1.57.
He will carry a lantern along with his other gear.
Fjall has 5 lbs of cooked potatoes.
Low, hard cowhide boots.
I will rely on the lights of others.
Lothar,
how much does your two waterskin weight together?
Also, we could bring them empty and fill them in the underground river. I can magically purify water.
The light source has to be the leader. At the moment, no one has actually said who will have a source that's actually lit, and it looks like Fjall is leading the party.
"We call him the canary; we don't say why."
Together and full they weigh 18.08 lbs. I'd prefer to bring them full just in case. You never know when you might find yourself adrift in the middle of the sea.
Rob has a bullseye lantern. Fjall would let him go in front, I think.
[OOC: I'm going to make myself some food and take a break for lunch. Can I move you down to where you left off, two hours into the dungeon?]
Lothar : ok I'll take your waterskin but grumble about their weight all the way to the bottom ;-).
This brings me to 44.57 lbs. , with now 4AP.
I can take the lead if you really want it, but given I'm not really a fighter it may be better if I wasn't. I can lend my lantern and candles to the leader if needed.
I see no issue with that. If Rob is in front, I cast Armor on him and roll a 3, so 4 total.
["Can I move you down to where you left off, two hours into the dungeon?" > yes for me.]
(Sorry, Alexis, couldn't do this on the phone, now on the laptop)
Total weight carried: ~96 pounds, this includes rations for 3 days but flat out nothing else in the way of adventuring gear other than a flint lighter.
Backpack: ~34 pounds
CLO rating: 1.50
Boots: boots (high hard), cowhide
I'll take the spearpoint and the lantern from one of you friends. My AC is the highest and same for goes of HD.
(Unless anyone objects, natch..)
Furthermore, I've rejiggered the backpack contents (a LOT of deadwood in there), to include 3 iron spikes, 50 feet of rope and 5 torches, presuming the 5 healing salves to be at my belt.
I give my lantern and 3 candles to Engelhart.
Heave ho.
I think I can still carry the rope ladder and not be the worse impaired for it.. although being in the lead kind of gets me nervous about the weight carried (2 AP total, yay).
(Hadn't noticed I wasn't carrying a single waterskin on me until today, the more you know...)
Engelhart,
I can take up to 18lb. from you if that changes anything.
[Much obliged about the sage ability, Alexis. Since you've already went with Beast Origins and its possible tie-ins with mythology/divinity, I don't know... maybe something of a practical bend, like tracking or inflicting injury upon them? (sorry to be so prosaic)].
Is that so, Rob? Well, then, have this here coil of rope (12 lbs.) and 4 torches (8 pounds), that will ease me into 3 AP, which can then become 4 once the backpack is shedded.
Check the beasts (sage ability) page, Engelhart. I think you missed, "Predict Beast." Which you'll see puts us on the same wavelength.
I have one person who has confirmed a return to the place at the end of your earlier trek.
Pardon, I meant 3 torches, of course (6 lbs.), didn't mean to overburden you.
Add my confirmation there, as well... I think we'll have to make do without the rope ladder, it'll never be long enough to justify lugging around.
[noted. You guys ready to go back down now?]
You have my confirmation
Good. One more please.
Alexis, in case you may have missed it, you do have confirmation from me, Rob and Mikael, making a (marginal) majority. Do you want us to wait a bit longer still?
I did miss your confirmation, Engelhart. Sorry.
Let's move on.
